Ryokan Chaume

The oldest traditional ryokan near Oyamazumi shrine.

"Ryokan Chaume" was established in early the Meiji period and is the oldest ryokan on the Omishima. The vintage ryokan was originally designed for people related to Oyamazumi shrine believers. It may sound that the ryokan is prestigious one. But the guests will see that it is a warm and casual ryokan when proprietress-to-be and waitress welcome you. It wouldn't feel like it is your first time to meet them and the guests would feel a little relaxed.
The ryokan is not equipped with the newest facilities inside. Instead, the guests will notice many arranged flowers are placed here and there. Flowers are not luxurious but they are wildflowers and grasses arranged simply.
As Omishima is located near the center of the Seto Inland Sea, the guests can expect good sea food. And the guests will know they are right by tasting the dishes prepared with wild-caught fish from local sea. This is what the host tries to do and it takes a lot of effort to get all the fish he wants.
The guests would feel so many things from the ryokan; the pride of the host of the ryokan at Omishima, honesty from the delicate dishes which only uses local sea food, kindness and politeness from subtle touch of service, and the spirit of the okami (owner's wife and the inn manager) from arranged flowers and the other settings. The goodness of local ryokans is condensed in this ryokan and it will remain in guests' memory.
