"Ryotei Matsubaya" is located in Kankaiji Onsen, one of the eight main hot springs in Beppu. It is said that this is the clearest and the most transparent hot spa in Beppu which has over 2,800 spring sources.
There are a gender-segregated big bath with an open-air bath in new annex "Tsuki-no-sou", "Yururi Komichi", which has three chartered bathes and "Yakushi-no Yu, a chartered bath with a monolith bathtub made by carving a hole in a huge rock in the main building "Oka-no-sou". All chartered bathes are big enough to lounge in a tub.
