SALT HOUSE is an exclusively private villa on Hakata Island along the Shimanami Kaido — welcoming just one group per day. Originally built as a dental clinic over 80 years ago and lovingly renovated, the house carries the quiet elegance of Showa-era Japan in every detail: original stained-glass windows that soften the afternoon light, brass door handles worn smooth by decades of use, carved ranma transoms, and authentic Bingo tatami underfoot.

A six-minute walk from the ferry port and two minutes from the bus stop, SALT HOUSE is easy to reach yet set apart - tucked into a peaceful corner of the island. Inside, a fully equipped kitchen and a dedicated café lab invite you to set your own pace: cook with local ingredients picked up from nearby shops, brew a slow morning coffee, and shape each day entirely around what you feel like doing.

Step outside and the island opens up. A short walk leads to a hilltop of citrus groves with the Seto Inland Sea glowing at sunrise; a little further, the gentle shores of Okiura Beach and a sheltered cove hidden among the rocks, where the sound of waves is the only thing on the agenda.

SALT HOUSE is designed for guests who want to stay like you live here - not just visit. The house is reserved exclusively for your group — no other guests, no shared spaces, for the entire duration of your stay.
