Ryokan Momiya

The inn with beauty of Japanese-style hotel.

Beppu city public hall, the brick building built in 1928, is about seven minutes walk away from Beppu station. In this uptown residential quarter which used to be a cottage area, there is "Kappo Ryokan Momiya". This building which has impressive and magnificent lumps is located at the very quiet place retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Beppu station.

The building is a traditional Japanese-style house. In the pond beside its entrance, you can see some carp are swimming. Each room has a different feature, such as a room facing the garden, an annex, a fork craft-like room, a room with salon, a Japanese and western-style room, a room decorated with bamboo crafts and a connecting room. These rooms have in common that they have settled atmospheres. It is attractive enough to make us hope to stay at all rooms. Beppu is famous for bamboo crafts and you can feel the local culture from the interior like a light of bamboo craft.

There are a big marble bathtub, a middle-sized bath called "Hiwada no Yu" and a small family bath made of old cypress. This inn doesn't have many guest rooms, so you can enjoy your time comfortably in any bath. Especially from "Hiwada no Yu", you can enjoy a view of the sylvan garden.

Dinner is Kyo kaisaki(Kyoto's traditional local cuisine), and a dish is served one after another. We believe that everyone can finish all dishes thanks to its mild taste. Breakfast is also well-prepared, and you will find the flavor of Japanese cuisine in it.

The best feature of this inn is that the service including facility and meals is not ornate but unobtrusive. This kind of orthodox Japanese-style inn is rare among other ones in Beppu, so many people visit here again and stay at another room.
