Hamanoya

Historical buildings registered in Matsue City.

Hamanoya is whole-house-reserved inn of old folk house which is operated by the main building, Fukumakan. It is also a valuable building that has been designated as a registered historical building in Matsue City.

The plate on the inn says the designated reason as follows; (summary)
The current building is thought to have been built around 1900 due to the architectural style and the processing status of materials. The exterior remains almost as it was at the beginning of construction. >

It has still remained preserved that the side gate of the entrance door, the earthen wall and the ceiling of the single board which have the look of an era when inn for sailors of Kitamae-bune was operated. There are an irori fireplace and an oblong brazier as well. It is decorated with reminder of that time such as a hotel book, business cards of the captains across the country, and daily necessities. The time you stay in Mihonoseki while thinking about history will be a memory of your trip to Japan.
