Japanese folk craft shop in Miyajima
Kamikamagari Island is the second island after crossing the Akinada Bridge. After passing through a tunnel on the way to the mainland side of the road, you will find “Minshuku Katsura Kamagari Honten” stands by the sea near the entrance to Katsura Falls, which is famous for its water. The president, who is a fisherman, first started a fish shop. In 1989, he also started a guest house to offer delicious fish to many guests. Then, the restaurant “Katsura-tei” was established, and the guest house and restaurant were combined into the current form.
The attraction of the restaurant is its fish dishes. “Sashimi must be fresh”, this elaboration is unique to a fisherman. Fish landed that morning are placed in the restaurant's large fish tank and cooked by the chefs. Of course, fresh fish is the main course: plump sashimi, boiled fish, appetizers, soup, fried fish.... The popular boat-wrap sashimi is dynamic, as is the fisherman's cuisine. The first-floor restaurant is also lively with fish lovers. The beautiful calligraphy and paintings displayed in various places in the museum are created by Katsura's regulars for Katsura. They are also loved by the locals.
The guest rooms in the main wing are newly built, with Japanese and Western-style rooms, and are well equipped, a bit like a hotel. The old wing is reasonably priced because it is an older building and can accommodate a larger number of people, including families and groups. There is a small family bath in the guest rooms of the main building, but a large seawater bath in the adjacent building is popular with guests. He is still a fisherman and can also arrange fishing boats.
Another thing I liked about spending time at this inn is that there is always the calm and tranquil Seto Inland Sea in front of me. “Our customers are happy with the clean air, the ocean, and the natural surroundings.” says the young vice-president. I feel that something has been passed down from generation to generation in their spontaneous and energetic appearance.
